Hideaway with history: In the Schlosshotel Kronberg, the former residence of Empress Friedrich, you can live like a prince with your dog by your side. Encapsulating the grandeur and elegance of a royal palace, an utterly romantic and magical castle laden with history, Schlosshotel Kronberg is one of the most impressive German castles.

Built in 1893 and home to Empress Victoria Friedrich, it has been welcoming guests from all over the world since 1954. The traditional luxury pet friendly hotel is located above the Taunus town of Kronberg, embedded in a spacious castle park with an 18-hole golf course.

A fascinating documented history, the Friderici Memoriae stands above the entrance portico of Schloss Friedrichshof, which Victoria, née Princess Royal of Great Britain, widowed Empress Frederick and Queen of Prussia, had built from 1889 to 1893 near Kronberg in the Taunus mountains. After her husband, the 99-day Emperor Friedrich III, had died of laryngeal cancer, she made the care of his memory her life’s purpose. For with Frederick she had also had to bury the hope of establishing a contemporary parliamentary system of government in autocratically ruled Prussia-Germany based on the model of her English homeland.

The Schosshotel opened in 1954 under the management of the hotelier Richard Pertram, who had also been the tenant of the family hotel Hessischer Hof in Frankfurt since 1952. Among the guests were King Paul and Queen Friederike of Greece as well as the King of Sweden. The state government also used the castle hotel for festive receptions of foreign state guests.

The guestrooms are beautifully decorated, and unique in design, with exclusive furnishings, chandeliers, intricate wallpapers and an impressive collection of antiques and paintings from the private estate of the Empress Viktoria and they all have glorious views of the surrounding parkland.

With it two restaurants ” Viktoria” and “Enrico d´Assia” the castle makes sure to meet all tastes with different cuisines and colours. Weather permitting; guests can dine on the terrace overlooking the golf course and gardens. English afternoon tea is served in the library at weekends and is quite the indulgent treat.

The hotel provides a fantastic starting point for hiking and bicycling tours throughout the Hoch-Taunus Nature Park. The hotel also offers the luxury of a Porsche Drive Rental and guests can book a Porsche at the hotel for a wonderful panoramic drive the Hoch-Taunus Hills.
