Indulge in the sophistication and rich history of the Hotel Phœnix Copenhagen – part of the Arp Hansen hotel group, it’s one of Copenhagen’s most luxurious hotels with an ambience and sense of tradition that is uniquely Danish.

Since the 17th century, Phoenix Copenhagen has, along with the royal Danish residence Amalienborg (the royal family still reside here today) and Frederik’s Church, been writing history and formed the centre of a life, which mark Frederiksstaden as Copenhagen’s most sophisticated district. See the changing of the guard or peek inside two of the four identical estates where the Danish Royal family officially resides.

Built by Colonel Samuel Christof von Plessen in the 1680s – when Copenhagen was a rich and flourishing merchant city of approximately 50.000 inhabitants – Hotel Phoenix was originally a two-storey house with 12 windows. It was named “Den Plessenske Gaard”, after its builder.

The hotel’s 213 rooms are decorated with frames of milk-white marble, golden details and living surfaces of velvet and a mother-of-pearl shine. You can also explore the hall of golden age art and pass small memory walls of patinated silver, chipped china and old newspaper clippings, which tell about different ages – and the long and detailed history of the hotel.

With its central location of Bredgade in the heart of Copenhagen, the hotel is surrounded by high-profile art galleries, well-known fashion stores, fine dining and cultural attractions. You’ll find the iconic Nyhavn, the main residence of the Danish Royal Family, The Little Mermaid and the famous pedestrian street Strøget within a very short walking distance from the hotel, as well as the King’s New Square, Amalienborg, The Royal Danish Theatre, cafés and the charming Nyhavn waterfront. The hotel is about 25 minutes’ walk from the Tivoli Gardens.
