Experience original Amsterdam five star luxury at De L’Europe Amsterdam, a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. With a recent change to their pet policy, we are delighted the hotel now welcomes your four-legged friends with open arms.

Founded on the remains of a late medieval fortress, the ornate building, which is an iconic landmark of Amsterdam, was established in 1896 almost one hundred and twenty-five years ago, and has evolved from exclusive hotel in the heart of Amsterdam into a guardian of local culture and craftsmanship. One of the most recognisable historic buildings in the heart of the city, it is set on the banks of the river Amstel.

Originally built with 50 guest rooms, a lovely dining room, an event space titled Amstelkamer as well as a smaller one for intimate dinners called the Muntkamer, named after the century-old Munt Tower across the street from the hotel.

With a history dating back to the 15th-century, Amsterdam had never had any need to build defence walls. The city was located in the middle of marshlands and swamps, and the only thing that separated it from the countryside was a deep canal surrounding the entire city. In 1482, when the danger of war was imminent, the citizens constructed a wall with towers at its farthest corners in under one year. Built in 1535, one of these towers was called ‘Rondeel’ and was constructed on the very spot where De L’Europe stands today.

De L’Europe Amsterdam offers lavish accommodation for you and your dog. It now boasts 111 stylish rooms and suites, which embrace local heritage with replicas of Dutch Masters paintings adorning the walls. The Michelin-starred restaurant Bord’Eau is located on the premises, with a supremely impressive wine list, consisting of more than 850 labels. You can also enjoy the unbeatable outdoor dining right on the river Amstel.

As you explore this incredible city with your dog, you will find some of the major local attractions to soak in the history of this extraordinary city including Rembrandt House Museum, Dam Square and De Wallen. The Royal Palace at Dam Square and Leidseplein, all just a short walk from the hotel.
