High on the clifftops, overlooking the Ionian Sea in Taormina, you’ll find the exquisite five star luxury of the San Domenico Palace, a Four Seasons hotel. Steeped in history, this 14th century convent, which has been a hotel since 1896 boasts impressive views over Mt Etna and the city’s ancient Greek Theatre and welcomes guests with their accompanied four legged friends.
History is present everywhere in this elegantly chic establishment. From the many antiques sculptures throughout, to the Latin inscriptions, there are remnants of its rich past still present.
The spacious guestrooms and suites are beautifully decorated with light furnishings and all are painted in white or cream giving a freshness with the high ceiling and floor to ceiling windows and each open onto a terrace overlooking the gardens and the sea. The guestrooms in the original wing of the hotel were originally the monks cells, and over each doorway is a mural painting of a saint.

The Anciovi seafood restaurant offers Mediterranean specialities. And for a coffee, cocktails or a light meal, you can enjoy the casual atmosphere and all day dining at the Bar & Chiostro, which offers the choice of a table on the terrace or inside.
The hotel does not offer traditional hotel spa facilities, however The Botanica Spa, with three treatment rooms, offers an amazing array of plant-based treatments inspired by the ancient monastic wisdom of herbs and local healing traditions. Although there are no Spa facilities at the hotel
The hotel is centrally located but set back from the charming small streets of Taormina, just minutes away from the town’s Belvedere viewpoint and the Piazza Duomo and just 15 minutes walk from the Greek theatre.
Stroll in magnificent Italian gardens with your four legged friend, soak in the history visiting some of Sicily’s most famous attractions including the historical cities of Modica, Noto and Siracusa, and the tiny, fascinating island of Ortigia. Visit the medieval village of Castiglione di Sicilia and enjoy tastings at top vineyards and quite simply….escape.
