A land of style and seduction….Sicily is a must for your travel wish list with your four legged friend.
Close to the majestic peaks of the Madonie Natural Park, the Masseria Susafa is in the centre of agricultural Sicily, a remote and isolated part of the Sicilian landscape where you can totally escape, leaving the world’s chaos behind.
You’ll feel as though you have stepped back in time, to a distant era, discovering the genuine heart and soul of Sicily, with its traditions, nature, history and legends.
Masseria Susafa is a 200-year-old family-run farmhouse that celebrates the beauty of its natural surroundings in every way. It has been the passion of five generations of the Saeli-Rizzuto family – a family of agricultural entrepreneurs, Manfredi Rizzuto and his brother, Tommaso are the owners of this magnificent estate. The farmhouse was renovated maintaining the traditional Sicilian rustic features like terracotta tiles, exposed wooden beams, and stonewalls. The rustic architecture combines with contemporary furnishings and details, creating a perfect juxtaposition between the natural materials and the comfort of modernity.
The ancient agricultural traditions of centuries-old rural Sicily are very much alive at Susafa. Living and working in harmony with nature’s bounty, cultivation, restoration, and regeneration are at the heart of the Rizzuto philosophy, as well as their passion for everything seasonal, local, and cultural.
Manfredi’s creativity combined with his love for design is visible in the details of the interiors that wisely blend the past with a contemporary style. Wooden ceilings, floors in cotto tiles and original décor, the guestrooms are all located on the ground floor, except from the Grand Suite and have a private entrance. All guestrooms are facing the gardens of the estate.
Originally, the old granary, it was converted into the restaurant, keeping its name, Il Granaio and traditional features with high-vaulted ceilings, stonewalls, Sicilian cotto tiles, a large fireplace and warm lighting it serves Italian and Sicilian cuisine using the fresh produce, sourced locally or grown on the estate. The guesthouse also produces its own corn, olive oil and jams. The ancient cellar is now an exquisite Wine Bar.
Why not try out the tailor-made cooking classes, where you will discover the secrets of Sicilian cuisine with the chefs.
Enjoy long undisturbed walks and hiking among the most beautiful paths in Sicily: Pizzo Carbonara, Monte San Salvatore, Cozzo Luminario, and the path of the Giant Hollies, to name a few.
Located one hour’s drive from many cultural attractions: Palermo, Cefalù, the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento, the Roman Villa del Casale at Piazza Armerina, and stunning Sperlinga
