Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains St. Moritz was constructed during the historic reign of the United Kingdom’s famed Queen Victoria, who sat on the British throne from 1837 to 1901. Steeped in tradition, you will enjoy looking back on its illustrious past.
St Moritz is in the heart of the Upper Engadin of the Swiss canton of Graubünden, at 1,800 m altitude, and is one of the world’s most upmarket mountain resorts – chic and exclusive with a cosmopolitan ambiance and inspiring scenery. The destination originally became famous for its mineral spring, which was discovered some 3,000 years ago. At the beginning of the 19th century, high society from all over Europe took the voyage to St. Moritz to enjoy the healing properties of the spring. Hotel guests can access the spring via a fountain, located in the spa area of the hotel.
The first renovations of the building took place in 1887, which aimed at giving the edifice the appearance of a sleek Mediterranean palace. In 1906, the corner towers were enlarged. Several amazing editions were added nearly two decades later including portions of the lounge and entrance area. The last renovations began in October 2001, when the facade and interiors were completely renovated with great emphasis placed on restoring the palace-style structure to its original elegance.
The Alpine Spa is the ultimate in relaxation. Overload your senses with the range of unique treatments and tailored services in 2,800 sq m wellness space.
Discover the tempting mix of traditional and cosmopolitan tastes with the renowned Kempinski touch when you indulge in the culinary delights at one of the three acclaimed restaurants, including the two Michelin Star Restaurant Cà d’Oro.
At Kempinski, they will always ensure that your four-legged companions are just as spoiled as you are – with customised menus at the restaurants and dedicated amenities in the room.
When it’s warm, one the best free things to do in St. Moritz is to take a restful walk with your dog around the shore of the resort’s own lake. The trail is five kilometres or so, and takes between one and two hours.
