If you’re thinking about heading to Lugano, the largest town in the Ticino region of Switzerland, then a visit to the five star luxury Villa Castagnola Grand Hotel Lugano is a must. The Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola is admired for its tranquil atmosphere, elegance and discreet and friendly service.
Set on the lake shores offering a spectacular panoramic view on the Gulf of Lugano,
you’ll be inspired by the spectacular scenery, lush subtropical vegetation and fabulous Mediterranean-influenced cuisine.
Steeped in history and tradition for over 130 years, this remarkable mansion was once the home of a noble Russian family, built as their winter residence on the lake shores at the foot of Monte Bré.and was transformed into a hotel in 1885.
The stately villa was bought by a family from Lucerne, who at first transformed it into a “guest house” and later into a hotel. For three generations, the Schnyder von Wartensees successfully managed it and turned it into one of the most renowned hotels in Switzerland. They nurtured and grew the hotel for almost a century.
