Set in the heights above Zurich, you can enjoy the privileged Swiss location with your four legged friend, in natural surroundings and the fairy-tale-like castle, which houses the luxurious Dolder Grand Hotel 1899.
This exquisite pet friendly hotel, a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, is a city resort that beautifully merges past and future.
Built during the 19th century, the Dolder Grand Hotel & Curhaus was created under the direction of the Basel architect Jacques Gros as a place of relaxation and regeneration for people in the city in need of a rest and has been the very epitome of hospitality since 1899.
The hotel underwent a complete renovation, taking several years and intense construction and re-opened in 2008. Under the direction of internationally renowned architect Lord Norman Foster, the Main Building was faithfully restored to its original historic state and the restoration combined the Hotel’s historic Main Building of 1899 with modern architectural accoutrements. The interior décor of the hotel also boasts an art collection of more than 100 works, including originals from Andy Warhol, Henry Moore, Takashi Murakami and Salvador Dalí:
Over the years, the Grand Hotel has hosted some illustrious guests such as Henry Kissinger, John Wayne, Heinz Rühmann, Sophia Loren, and King Charles III. It continues to be a meeting point for royalty, politicians and heads of business, as well as those working in the entertainment and film industries with guests including Nelson Mandela, Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson, Luciano Pavarotti and Mikhail Gorbachev who have all signed their names in the guest book.
The elegant guestrooms are all unique for their individual modern interior and tasteful luxury, offering views over Zurich, Lake Zurich, the Alps, or the nearby forest.
The Dolder Grand Hotel offers two award-winning restaurants, managed by chefs who are truly passionate about creating the very finest cuisine. The acclaimed The Restaurant, headed by innovative chef Heiko Nadeer renowned for his innovative gourmet cuisine that uses an impressive array of flavours, has been awarded two Michelin stars and 19 GaultMillau points.
The all-day-dining Saltz restaurant, awarded 14 Gault Millau points, is managed by chef Julian Mai, and was designed by artist Rolf Sachs. Guests can enjoy modern international cuisine and a wide selection of fine wines and drinks.
The hotel offers an exclusive, state-of-the-art spa (4,000 square metres) includes a large pool with panoramic views, a ladies’ and gentlemen’s spa, fitness facilities, 18 treatment rooms and 2 Spa Suites. It offers a wide selection of facials, massages and body rituals and is located in one of the wings designed by Lord Norman Foster.
