Classified as a historical monument, it was the home of great humanist families of the XVIIIth century and after three centuries of history, Château de Fonscolombe has opened its gates just a short distance from Aix-en-Provence, inviting you and your four legged friends to experience the most luxurious establishment for miles around.

A member of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux group, the Château was converted into a hotel in 2017, after being under private ownership for three centuries.

A 30-minute drive from Marseille Provence Airport and a scenic 20-minute drive from Aix-en-Provence train station, the Château is totally secluded, with the closest sign of civilization being the tiny 11th century village Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade, which is nearby.

The 31-acre vineyard at the Château dates back to the Roman period and falls onto the northern slopes of the Trévaresse mountain and extends over the sedimentary basin of the lower Durance. A mineral soil and a Mediterranean climate, with a slight continental tendency, leave their mark on the wines. The estate has two organic appellations, the IGP Bouches du Rhône and the AOP Côteaux d’Aix-en-Provence.

As well as the hotel’s wine estate that produces its own organic red, white and rosé wines, you really don’t want to miss mealtime! L’Orangerie restaurant promises an authentic and refined experience. It is not only magnificent, but it also offers creative and refined Provençal cuisine, served with exceptional wines, including a selection of more local and with this new 2023 season, and new chef Marc Fontanne, a new great adventure awaits!

This refined establishment offers guestrooms and suites with breathtaking views of the parks and gardens of the Château. They maintain the sumptuous decor of their origins, allowing guests to spend pleasant moments in peace without neglecting the romantic touch provided by the wood and marble bathrooms.

Guests are made to feel like they are actually living in a Château, with full run of the sitting rooms and grounds for meals, drinks, reading, resting, or exploring.

The advantage of the Château is that it offers the opportunity for long walks through an area of several hectares and park with paths lined by majestic trees.

So if you’re look for a slow living getaway in Provence to cherish the French art of living and celebrating the good life…..the vibe is relaxed yet totally indulgent!
