Set on six hectares of beautiful parkland, and nestled high on the Saint Ombre Hill, surrounded by a century-old forest and vineyards, the Château de Candie overlooks the city of Chambéry, the capital of the Haute Savoie department, with panoramic views over the peaks of Chartreuse. You and your four legged travelling companions will be welcomed with open arms.

This four star luxury Château is decorated with period paintings and antiques. The guestrooms and suites have maintained the traditional and elegant decoration of the château, each with its own individual style.

There have been many noble owners of the château, all who have left a long lasting legacy of days past. The extensive history of the Château dates back to the 14th century. The first testaments of the fortified manor belong to the noble Candie family previously named Chaffaron. It was acquired by Jean André Sarde, a merchant from Piemont in northern Italy in 1664 and stayed in his family for over a hundred years. Caroline de Saint Séverin, wife of the nobleman Tredicini became the new owner the château in 1884 buying it at auction. Then in 1990, an antique enthusiast and creator of leather goods, Didier Lhostis who took to renovating the extraordinary manor over the next four years, bought the Château. The Château de Candie was then opened as a hotel in 1994.

Vineyards surrounded the Candie family manor and for centuries wine was produced in large quantities. However in 1879 these vineyards were completely destroyed by phylloxera. Abandoned for more than a century, the vineyards were relocated to the southern slope of the Château parkland in 2003 and have since blossomed, producing wine from the Viognier grape variety, a white grape of Alpine origin, that is well known in the north of the Rhone valley.

Although they have never been revealed, it has been noted in ancient documents there are hidden places inside the Château to discover.
