A magnificent Château estate with vineyard, hotel, restaurant, Cinq Mondes spa and luxury self-catering properties set in 200 acres of beautiful Mediterranean countryside in the Languedoc, South of France

Far from the tumoil of the crowds and the urban cities, Château St Pierre de Serjac is a paradise lost in the Languedoc vineyards. The nearest villages are a 5 minute drive away and the two largest cities Pézenas and Béziers are 20 minutes away.

In 1896 Baron Cyprian de Crozals, heir to a large wine fortune created during the boom period of the late 19th Century commissioned renowned Bordeaux architect Louis-Michel Garros to restore an existing estate at St Pierre de Serjac, creating in the process the buildings that stand today. Garros responded in typical eclectic style and St Pierre emerged as one of the most important estates in the region, producing almost one million litres of wine per year.

The Châteaux remained in the de Crozals family until 2011 when Baron Paul de Chefdebien sold it to Karl O’Hanlon and Laurent Bonfils, who were looking for an estate to overhaul. The transformation of the Château and the outbuildings took five years, with the wine production was moved to the modern facility at nearby Domaine de Cibadies in the interim, with the current incarnation of the estate opening its doors to guests in 2016.

From the majestic city of Montpellier to the medieval city of Carcassonne, along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, the Languedoc region offers a multitude of cultural, leisure and sporting activities.

The property is located between the archetypal French villages of Pouzolles and Magalas. The nearest airports are Beziers a 30-minute drive and Montpellier is around 1 hour drive depending on traffic. TGV trains run from London and Barcelona to Beziers and I was surprised to learn that Barcelona is only two hours from Beziers meaning you can easily fly in and out of Barcelona too.

If you are yearning for a beach the coast is under 40 minutes drive from Serjac. The fortified town of Carcassone is an hour’s drive and well worth seeing and if you need a spot of retail therapy Montpellier is well worth heading to with its bars, restaurants and retail galore.
