Surrounded by the Tuscan hills, Il Borro is an enchanting destination above the city of Arezzo, which sits about 60km from both Florence and Siena. Dating back to the 12^th century, Il Borro is now an agricultural estate and organic vineyard welcoming guests into the most genuine village community atmosphere.

Il Borro belonged to Duke Amedeo di Savoia-Aosta who owned it until 1993 when Ferruccio Ferragamo became the new owner and the one who can be credited with the Estate’s restoration and refurbishment and for having returned it to its original glories. For some twenty-five years, Ferruccio Ferragamo, one of six children of the Italian fashion legend, Salvatore Ferragamo and his family have lovingly restored this 750-hectare organic estate and winery. Family run, you will be welcomed by the maître de maison, young Salvatore Ferragamo, who runs the estate, Ferruccio’s son, and his grandfather’s namesake.

Il Borro offers its guests a range of accommodations from Dimora Storica, Villa Casetta or the charming suites in the medieval hamlet to the luxurious and imposing main villa: Dimora Il Borro. The stone-built buildings of the medieval village are named after either a former resident or profession, and each has its own layout and character. Some have gardens, kitchens or open fires, and all have beautiful elegant and refined yet subtle country-style décor.

The gourmet restaurant, Osteria Il Borro, the most refined of the estate’s three restaurants, occupies the former school house located across a stone bridge from the village, offering sustainable and organic, farm-to-table dining, with locally sourced products grown on the Estate.

Il Borro is an organic and sustainable estate and an ancient land dedicated to wine making. Guests can enjoy organised tours of the wine cellar, which will take you on a cultural journey into the heart of winemaking. The tour is much more than just looking at the vineyards, taking in the view and tasting the wine. With an expert guide, it becomes an all-inclusive experience that encompasses the discovery of the vineyards, the cellar, the wine, art and architecture as you visit the impressive underground cellar.
