Dating back to 1919, this exquisite hotel, formerly the Ritz Barcelona, beholds more than 100 years of local and international history. El Palace Barcelona is the oldest luxury hotel in the city welcoming guests, including our four-legged friends to indulge in the history and culture of this extraordinary city landmark.
The Palace’s central location, a privileged plot on the corner of Gran Vía de les Corts Catalanes and Roger de Lluria, is one of the best locations in the heart of Barcelona with many of the city’s main tourist attractions within the vicinity. The hotel sits next to the Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas and Paseo de Gracia and the main shopping area, the most prestigious commercial area of Barcelona.
El Palace Hotel Barcelona is a property that exudes opulent luxury and as history is told, it began life as The Ritz Barcelona, one of the prominent luxury properties by the renowned hotel tycoon, César Ritz.
After the end of World War I, Francesc Cambó, a Catalan politician, went to the Ritz of Madrid and saw the future he believed Barcelona deserved: a Ritz of its own. He convinced César Ritz to build one of his hotels in Barcelona, knowing that it would give the city a boost and become a place for important people to gather.
With the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition on the horizon, construction of the hotel began. Sadly, César Ritz passed away in 1918, before the Ritz of Barcelona was completed. Throughout the years, El Palace Barcelona has enjoyed continuous involvement with both local and international culture, welcoming visitors from all over the world and all walks of life.
El Palace Barcelona comprises 120 guestrooms and suites superbly furnished for your comfort and relaxation. There are a variety of guestrooms to accommodate from one to seven people offering special amenities for all guests needs. Proudly pet friendly, the staff at El Palace Barcelona will happily welcome and pamper your pets to ensure a luxurious stay.
There has always been a strong link between the hotel and the world of gastronomy. The hotel has always been known for the high quality of its local, seasonal dishes. There are two restaurants: L’Éclair, located at the hall, and the Winter Garden Restaurant, set at the Roof Terrace. Guests can also enjoy a cocktail at the Bluesman Cocktail Bar.
Hotel El Palace Barcelona has a Mayan-style spa with a Temazcal Sauna and a rooftop garden with an exceptional swimming pool, bar, and restaurant – a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city.
There is always something happening at El Palace Barcelona. 2022 Winner in the Beyond Luxury Awards for « Best Pet Friendly Hotel » and « Best Hotel Happenings” you will not be disappointed with the music, social life of the city and the world of gastronomy that waits. And with the ultimate year-round splendid weather in Barcelona, it will certainly make your stay even more enjoyable.
